Getting started
Do I need an account to use Office Scanner?
No, never. Just install the app and start scanning — there is no login system.
Is there a subscription?
No. Office Scanner is a one-time purchase, with no in-app purchases in the initial release.
Can I use Office Scanner without Face ID?
Yes — if biometrics aren't set up on your device, your passcode is used instead.
Scanning & editing
How do I fix a scan that captured too much or too little of the page?
Open the document and use Adjust Edges — drag each of the four corners independently for a true perspective correction. Automatic edge detection runs first, so this is rarely needed, but it's there for the times it is.
Can I reorder or remove pages from a multi-page scan?
Yes — open the document and use Manage Pages to reorder or delete individual pages.
I made a mess of a scan — can I redo it without losing everything?
Yes, use Rescan. It replaces a document's content with a brand new scan while keeping its name, folder, tags, and favorite status.
Search
How does search find text inside my scans?
Every page is run through on-device OCR (Apple's Vision framework) at scan time, and the recognized text is indexed for search — so you can find a document by a word that appears inside it, not just its file name.
Can I filter or sort my documents?
Yes — the Data Manager tab lets you filter by tag or favorite, and sort by newest, oldest, or name, across every folder at once.
Privacy & security
Where are my documents stored?
Only on your device, inside the app's private, sandboxed storage, protected by Face ID (or Touch ID / your device passcode).
Does Office Scanner back up my documents to the cloud?
Office Scanner itself never uploads anything anywhere — there is no server and no account system. Your documents are included in your device's normal iCloud/iTunes backup the same way any app's data is, if you have device backups turned on.
What data does Office Scanner collect?
None. No personal data, no usage data, no identifiers are collected, stored remotely, or shared with anyone — the app makes no network requests as part of its normal operation, because it has no server or backend of any kind.
Sharing
How do I send a document securely?
Use the password-protected PDF export to generate a separate, encrypted copy with a password you choose. Your original stored document is never modified or encrypted — only the shared copy.
I forgot the password I set for a shared PDF — can you recover it?
No. Password-protected exports use standard PDF encryption, and there is no way for anyone, including us, to recover a forgotten password.
